How to make Best Salisbury Steak

In less than an hour, you can make a super delicious Salisbury Steak that is so flavorful and very easy to prepare.

For the Salisbury Steak:

  • 450 gr ground round
  • 120 gr breadcrumbs (Italian flavored)
  • An egg
  • 30 gr ketchup
  • A tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • A teaspoon of Dijon mustard
  • 30 gr chopped parsley

For the Gravy:

  • A tablespoon of olive oil
  • 45 gr butter
  • A medium-sized onion, cut into slices
  • Two cloves of grated garlic
  • 100 gr sliced mushrooms
  • 45 gr flour
  • 600 ml beef stock
  • A package of gravy mix (McCormick Au jus)
  • A teaspoon of Dijon mustard
  • A tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • A teaspoon of dried thyme

  1. First of all, prepare a medium bowl to combine some ingredients in it, like the beef, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce and chopped parsley. Stir and combine these ingredients until they are completely mixed and the beef is evenly coated with the mixture.
  2. Then, you need to shape the meat mixture into 5 to 6 pieces of oval patties and don’t forget to season the patties on both sides with the salt and pepper. Next, prepare a skillet and heat it over medium-high heat with oil and butter on top of it. Cook until the butter melted and the oil heated.
  3. Next, put the patties to cook both sides until they turn brown and then you may transfer them to a plate. Still using the same skillet, add other ingredients to sauté, such as the onions, mushrooms, and garlic. Sauté for several minutes until the onions get caramelized.
  4. Also, make sure you season the mixture with salt and pepper while cooking. When it is done, you need to transfer the ingredients to the plate of patties immediately. Don’t turn the heat off. You just need to lower it to the medium heat to melt two tablespoons of butter in it.
  5. Then, add the flour and stir the ingredients for around a minute over low heat. Next, add again with other remaining ingredients, like the beef stock, gravy mix, Dijon mustard, dried thyme and the Worcestershire sauce. Cook them well while returning the beef, onions, garlic, and mushrooms into the skillet to combine.
  6. Cook them for additional 10 minutes over low heat with the cover on. Here, make sure the gravy gets thickened, and the meats are thoroughly cooked. Then, before you serve and enjoy this dish, don’t forget to taste with salt and pepper, if it is necessary.

Now, it is serving time. Better to enjoy this dish immediately and make sure you eat this with mashed potatoes as a perfect combination.
