Sunday Snapshot: Perfectly Fall

We broke out the long sleeves and pants today for the first time this season. Hooray! I woke up freezing this morning and felt so excited about it that I switched from the A/C to the heater and then spent part of the morning packing away into bins most of C’s summer clothes that I know won’t fit him next year. Perhaps for baby #2 some day. :) It’s been raining for the past few days, and I think the warm weather is finally behind us. At least that’s what the 10-day forecast is leading me to believe for now, haha.

C and I have been cooped up indoors for the better part of two days because of the rain, so when the skies were clear today we jumped at the chance to play outside in the crisp autumn air.

Our homeowner’s association set up this fun area of hay bales and pumpkins in front of the community clubhouse a week or so ago, and I’ve made a note to myself every time we drive by it to remember to stop for a picture. We walked over there today from the neighborhood playground and did just that!

Sunday Snapshot: Perfectly Fall | Savvy Sweet Life

I can’t get over how perfectly his shirt matches those twinkling fall lights on the clubhouse roof (totally unplanned but too cute not to point out!).

C has been loving pumpkins this fall, so he really enjoyed playing around this little area. Every time we go to the grocery store, he makes me stop out front first so he can touch each “pump” on display. We have our own display of pumpkins near our fireplace that C happily rearranges each day. One of them has an on/off switch and lights up inside—he brings this one to me every morning to turn on for him before anything else, tells me thank you in sign language and gives me a kiss. He just does the cutest, sweetest things sometimes that make me feel so loved and so incredibly lucky to be his mama.

I hope you’re enjoying your fall so far! What’s your favorite part about this season?

  1. Aw such a sweet picture! My little one is all about the pumpkins this year, too. It’s amazing how much enjoyment their enthusiasm brings to each new season!

Thank you for sharing with us at #mommymeetupmondays

  2. So cute! It seems like ages since mine were that little. We have been so busy this fall that we haven’t had much time for lots of planned activities. We do plan on carving some pumpkins and cooking the seeds later this week. When mine were really little, like yours, it was so cute to see their faces when they stuck their hands in the pumpkin “guts”. Some loved the feeling, others were grossed out. How would your son react you think? It has been so nice to see how others are enjoying this season, through their writing. Here is a post I recently wrote all about what fall is like here in Vermont…

    1. I haven’t done pumpkin carving with my son, but at this point I don’t think he would like it quite yet … he likes to get messy to a certain extent, but he comes to me to wipe off his hands soon enough, haha! I enjoyed reading your post about what fall is like in the northeast. Thank you for sharing your perspective on the season—it’s so interesting to see how the seasons and traditions differ across the country, and across the world. I hope you and your family have a wonderful autumn before winter rolls in!

  3. What a lovely snapshot! Those eyes! He’ll be a heartbreaker one day…

My daughter is obsessed by pumpkins. She was too young to have a clue what was going on last year, but every time we see a pumpkin at the moment she gets incredibly excited – never mind fallen leaves! Such a great time of year. Though over here in the UK, the warm weather left us quite a few weeks ago…!

    1. Aww, you’re so sweet. Thank you! My son was also too young to care too much about the fall festivities last year, but it’s fun to see him more aware this year. Your daughter sounds just like my son when it comes to pumpkins! :D

  4. Oh what an adorable picture! I am longing to have the opportunity to take one like this of my girls with some Autumn pumpkins. I just never seem to get round to it. And I LOVE the matching top and twinkly lights too. Makes it all the more perfect a shot. Steph xxx #mycapturedmoment

  5. Love each and every one of the pictures you post. C is getting to be such precious child. From precious baby to precious child and on and on through all the stages of his life.

    1. Thanks so much! Haha, picture-taking is getting to be a lot harder with an active toddler. I got him to sit still long enough to take a few pictures … and then he was back up racing around the hay bales :)

  6. That is the most perfect picture. I noticed the lights right away. And the orange matches the pumpkins perfectly. You’re so good at taking photos. Your pictures always make me smile. Thank you for sharing at #mommymeetupmondays!
