Sunday Snapshot: Not Tired

Hello, friends! I hope you all had a great weekend!

One of my goals for this online space of mine is to get into the habit of blogging regularly, so I’m starting with a weekly photo. Nothing too elaborate or planned out; just one snapshot from a moment during the week that I’ll try to share on most Sundays.

I upgraded my DSLR camera body to a Nikon D7200 from my 7-year-old Nikon D60 recently, so this will also give me a good excuse to practice my photography more often. I’m enjoying my new camera, and I’m IN LOVE with my new lens—a Nikon 35mm f/1.8G (this one to be exact). I used it for this Sunday Snapshot, and I’ve rarely taken it off my camera body since I got it. It’s amazing.

Sunday Snapshot: Not Tired | Savvy Sweet Life

My sleep schedule has been out-of-whack now for a couple of weeks, and I can’t seem to get it back to normal. You’ll see what I mean in an upcoming post. ;) So when my little bear gets up especially early in the morning after a night that I go to bed especially late, this happens. An iced mocha, fruit and a delicious savory breakfast crêpe on the patio of my favorite little coffee spot. Because early morning is about the only time of day you can do some patio sittin’ during a Texas summer and actually enjoy it.

I thought it would be fun to throw a piece of C’s cereal on the ground so he could see a nearby bird snatch it up to eat. That was until he wanted to feed ALL THE BIRDS and was tossing as much cereal as his tiny hands could manage. Followed by hysterical laughter every time a new bird came over to join the party. Except his throwing skills aren’t the best yet, so the cereal was practically surrounding us. At one point I felt like I was close to recreating the pigeon lady scene in Home Alone 2, but thankfully there were two kids at the opposite end of the patio who started offering up more appetizing food.

I love our little outings and his sense of wonder. A morning spent laughing in the fresh air, sharing breakfast with the cutest date, was just what I needed to wake up.

And no truer words have ever be printed on footie pajamas. I don’t know if I can put these on him again … I feel like I jinxed myself or something!

  1. Such a great photo and a cute story! I’m glad you were able to capture a sweet moment like that! I have also been trying to get back into the habit of blogging more regularly, it’s a hard thing to keep up with sometimes!

Thank you for sharing with us at #MommyMeetupMondays!

    1. Blogging really is hard to keep up with! I struggle with it at times. My “perfectionism” gets in the way of getting anything posted in a timely manner, but I’m working on it :) Thanks for visiting and commenting!

  2. He is such a cute, whether it says “not tired” or not. the picture looks amazing. I always wanted to get DSLR camera but never dared because I know for a fact I can’t use it properly with the focus. #sharewithme

    1. Thank you, Janine! I’m working on mastering my camera in manual mode, but you could use auto mode easily. And an autofocus lens will do the focusing for you :) I know DSLRs can look a bit intimidating, but they’re really pretty simple to work. Give it a try! If you’ve always wanted to get one, then I think you’ll really love it!

    1. Thank you! Getting a prime lens has forced me to be more purposeful about my composition and technique, and the extra effort has been totally worth it for the better quality and performance.
And I hope it does too—it’s hard to be so off-schedule with a little one! Thanks again!

  3. Oh Isn’t he a cutie! Not sleeping sucks though. I’m past those years (mine are 6, 9, and 10) but we still have bedtime battles with the youngest. We still have Cheerio fun though. The other day we took a small box to the local pond. Even my oldest enjoyed spending time with the ducks. #mycapturedmoment
