Mom Meets Blog

Hello, blogging world! I’ve been an avid follower of so many wonderful blogs for so long—thanks to all of you who have given me gorgeous pictures to look at, DIY projects to save for later (and later and later), new recipes to try and tips on how to improve a whole slew of things. You’ve inspired me and challenged me to make my world a little lovelier each day. I hope I can do the same. So here it is, my first blog post … finally! I’ve had the vision of this blog in my mind for years now, though that vision has evolved gradually through major life events.

The first time I really thought about blogging was after getting engaged in 2008. I devoured wedding blog content multiple times a day during that time, and I wanted to help future brides sail through the stressful and overwhelming nature of wedding planning that I experienced by sharing all the practical info I learned along the way.

But planning a wedding from out of state while going to graduate school full-time and working as a journalist full-time was already proving to be a triple threat to my sanity, so I put my blog aspirations on the back burner. After moving back to Texas and getting married in 2011, I thought again about blogging, now as a newlywed.

In 2012, I thought I would definitely start then after we bought our first house. I was all over Pinterest soaking up ideas like a sponge. Next thing I know, I was sprucing up our new place with budget-friendly solves and dreaming up the things I could do next. I even took step-by-step pictures of the home improvements and craft projects I was working on at the time, thinking, “Heck yes, this would make a great DIY tutorial for my nonexistent blog!” Haha.

My husband and I went on a two-week Mediterranean cruise in 2013 (aka our prepregnancy babymoon) and, yes, as we prepared to fly across the world to awaiting adventures, of course I thought, “What a perfect time to start blogging!”

And most recently, after we brought our beautiful baby boy into the world earlier this year, I wanted more than ever to chronicle my new experiences as a first-time mom. Obviously, through all of these life events, this little blogging dream never happened. And obviously, I am a procrastinator. Big time. But here I am, a little late, and I’d like to think the time is finally right. I’m looking forward to revisiting some of these wonderful memories down the line to share them with you. And I hope you’ll follow along with my new adventures and projects as I navigate through life as a brand-new mama to this little darling:

  1. I am so in love with your blog already, sweet friend! I can’t wait to keep up with you on here and add more things to my ‘save it for later’ pile. (Did I use those quotations correctly? Haha…idk) You have such a beautiful spirit, and I’m so glad you have a way to share that with a larger audience. Love you!

    1. Oh, Dubrovnik was so lovely … it wasn’t one of the stops on our Mediterranean cruise that I was most looking forward to, and maybe that’s why it blew me away. Such a beautiful place, and it ended up being one of my favorite stops! The church we got married in was actually modeled after one in a Croatian village, so the connection is really special to me :) Thanks so much for reading and commenting!
