I’ve totally neglected my poor blog this month, but I promise it’s for a good reason: My baby boy is turning 1! How did that even happen?! No, really, how?
Since my last post, I’ve spent every baby-is-sleeping minute I have binging on first birthday ideas on Pinterest, designing printable decorations, stringing banners onto twine, measuring, cutting, taping, hot gluing, you name it—all in a loving attempt to create an adorable themed party for my baby’s first birthday. I know, I know—he won’t even remember this party, but that’s OK. When he grows up he won’t remember anything from his first year, but that hasn’t stopped me from making every day as joyous as possible for him. So we’ll have a big party to celebrate him and all the joy he’s brought to us in his first year and, in turn, his excitement and joy that day will make all of the party planning worth it. Of course there will be photo evidence, so he can always appreciate his mama’s hard work later. ;) Plus, a baby’s first birthday party is a celebration for the parents too, am I right? We successfully made it through our first year in our new roles and have a thriving little human to show for it. That sounds like a good reason to celebrate to me!
With that said, and with good intentions, I always take on too many DIY projects … and this time is no exception. On top of that, I waited until a month before his party to start doing anything. Me←procrastinator. A procrastinator and a perfectionist—could there be a worse combination? I’m working on it, slowly but surely. In this case though, I really blame the procrastination on not being able to come to terms with the fact that my baby isn’t going to be a baby anymore. *tear*
All in all, I’ll eventually be back to blogging regularly after the party when I catch up on some sleep. ;)
So stay tuned! I have a lot of great posts coming up, including baby’s first flight, our recent family vacation, the big first birthday party reveal, a convertible car seat comparison and a Liebster Award nomination from Michelle at Oh The Simply Joys. Thanks, Michelle!
But for now, here’s a little sneak peek of C’s upcoming birthday celebration:
Can you guess the theme? Here’s hoping it all comes together and that the rain stays away for our outdoor fun!
