Ecocentric Mom Box Review

December 2015 Mom & Baby Box

I was so impressed with my first Mom & Baby Box that when Ecocentric Mom asked me if I would like to receive another one to discover some new eco-friendly products, of course I said yes! It’s so much fun to get a package in the mail filled with good-for-you things that you can also feel good about. Since being pregnant with my first baby, I’ve been on a mission to find the best products for my family. I’m always looking for safe, natural products to add to our daily routines that contribute to leading a more eco-friendly lifestyle. I’m glad to have found a company that makes healthy living for mamas and their little ones a top priority!

Ecocentric Mom Box Review – Dec15 | Savvy Sweet Life

There’s a product card included in every box with a summary about each product and why it was chosen. The card in the December box basically says: “Hi, Mamas. We know just what you need.” ;) I loved that the December box was put together to achieve a “post-holiday calm” with combating stress and dry winter skin in mind for both mom and baby.

About Ecocentric Mom

The mission of Ecocentric Mom is to enhance your well-being during your motherhood journey. Through its bimonthly subscription boxes, you get the opportunity to explore a variety of natural products and ethical brands you might not have come across otherwise.

Per its website, “Ecocentric Mom delivers a curated experience of wholesome product discovery for moms and moms-to-be. … Best of all, everything in your box is 100% healthy—good for you and the world around you. We do that research, so you don’t have to.”

Ecocentric Mom Subscription Boxes

There are three boxes to choose from: the Pregnancy Box, the Mom & Baby box and the Mom box. Boxes are delivered to you every other month and contain 5–9 products in different categories such as beauty, food, baby care and wellness. Depending on which box you pick, you’ll get awesome goodies that are hand-selected and tailored to your specific stage of motherhood, whether you’re a mom-to-be, a new mom or a mom with children of any age!

Here’s what I received in the latest Mom & Baby subscription box:

Kosmatology Botanical Bliss Lotion Bar
$10.49 for a 2.65 oz. bar (full-size included + promo code for 15% off)

I’m going to start with my favorite product from the box—the Botanical Bliss Lotion Bar (that looks like a stick of deodorant) in the Lavender Eucalyptus scent. I love this. I mean, I really love it. I could already smell the lavender when I opened the box, so I knew it was going to be good stuff. The scent is strong at first if you’re not used to using essential oils, but it is so very pleasant after that. I can’t stop smelling my skin! The Lotion Bar is a chemical-free solid moisturizer with organic ingredients, including shea butter and coconut oil. It doesn’t contain water so there are no preservatives or chemicals that are often found in water-based lotions. This is perfect for winter skin, and the no-mess application is a neat feature! Kosmatology is an organic, preservative-free skin care line that is safe for the whole family. After perusing the website, there are several other products I want to try!

The Laughing Tree Organics Lip Balm
$3 for a .15 oz. tube (full-size included + promo code for 20% off)

Since I do use lip balm all day every day, I was glad to try another variety of organic lip balm in my Mom & Baby Box. The Lemonade flavor I received is refreshing and really subtle (coming from someone who doesn’t typically like flavored lip stuff), and I like that it has sun protection (SPF 15). The Laughing Tree Organics has a full line of hair care and skin care products that use organic and all-natural oils, herbs and extracts. The company adheres to all aspects of a full-circle, sustainable eco-model, so not only are the products made with pure ingredients, the packaging is made using biodegradable and recycled products when possible.

HelloMellow Kiddo Stink Away Spray
$11 for a 2 oz. bottle (full-size included + promo code for 20% off order)

This spray seems to do its job, which is to remove odors and lighten moods with its calming scent powered by essential oils. You can spritz the air, the changing area and even your little one from head to toe. HelloMellow is a line of all-natural products handmade in the USA, and its “Kiddo” line of baby-safe products looks like it’s worth checking out. I spy a sleepy time spray and dry skin eraser that I wouldn’t mind trying out on my little one!

My Konjac Sponge Baby Bath Sponge
$11 per sponge (full-size included + promo code for 20% off)

This extra-soft Konjac fiber baby bath sponge is another favorite of mine from the December box! I’ve loved using this sponge on my son during bath time, and he loves it too. I was a little skeptical at first because when you open the packaging, the sponge is hard and scratchy, like a pumice stone. But once you get it wet, it transforms into an almost gel-like material that’s so soft and not scratchy at all. I’ve completely stopped using washcloths because this sponge lathers so well with much less soap, which makes washing my little guy a cinch. Plus it’s nonabrasive and much gentler on his skin than washcloths. It’s 100% natural and perfect for babies with sensitive skin and eczema. The sponge is made exclusively with vitamin- and mineral-rich Konjac, a pure vegetable fiber. It’s hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, pH-balanced and biodegradable. I can’t say enough good things about it, and I totally already picked up a Konjac fiber facial sponge for myself!

SmartyPants Prenatal Vitamins
$34.95 for a 180-count bottle (sample included + promo code for 25% off order)

I received a sample packet of prenatal gummies, which are a multivitamin and fish oil in one. I like the idea of gummy vitamins because that’s so much more fun, but I really like my current prenatal vitamins and don’t mind the large pills, so the added calories and sugars in gummy vitamins aren’t worth it to me. I can see the kids complete gummies being a great option for kiddos though! And as far as gummy vitamins go, these look great—they are non-GMO with no artificial sweeteners, colors, flavors or preservatives. Plus SmartyPants is a supporter of Vitamin Angels, so for every bottle you purchase, SmartyPants donates a nutrient grant to children in need.

Coconut Organics Coconut Chips
$1.50 for a 1 oz. bag (included + promo code for 10% off)

These toasted organic coconut chips make a great snack out of the bag, or they can be added as an ingredient to enhance other foods, such as salads, yogurt and oatmeal. They are vegan, gluten-free and naturally sweet with no added salt or sugar. They taste great—I enjoyed eating them as a snack by themselves—and they are high in fiber (8g of dietary fiber in the 1 oz. bag).

Earth Mama Angel Baby Organics Tea Sampler + Baby Bottom Balm
$5.99 for 16 tea bags (3 samples included)
$12.99 for a 2 oz. tub of balm (1.5 ml sample included)

Herbal remedies from Earth Mama Angel Baby were included in the post-holiday calm box to soothe and heal both mom and baby in the cold winter months. The Angel Baby Bottom Balm is an herbal diaper cream that battles diaper rash. It’s Earth Mama’s best seller and can be used for a load of other things too—cuts, scrapes, burns, cradle cap and more. The tea samples are a cozy treat, and Earth Mama has teas for pregnancy, postpartum support and nursing. I’ll definitely look into them more the next time around!

  1. Subscription boxes seem to be all the rage now. This one is different than others I’ve seen, though – very interesting products and it seems to be a really good value. I’m glad you found a lot of things that you are interested in using and new brands you will continue to use!

    1. It does seem like you can get a subscription box for just about anything you’re interested in! I don’t do any others for comparison, but it is usually the value/type of products that keep me away. I’ve received two Ecocentric Mom boxes now, and I’ve genuinely loved using most of the products I’ve received, which is important to me. I would be so disappointed if I signed up for a subscription box and didn’t like or even use any of the products! So far that hasn’t been a problem at all with this one :)
