Baby’s First Christmas 2014

I hope everyone is enjoying the first day of 2015! I mentioned in an earlier post that I would write about Baby C’s first Christmas happenings, so before we take down the decorations today and ring in the new year, here are five things we did leading up to his first Christmas:

1. Babies “R” Us First Christmas Event

This was a cute little event held at our local store for babies celebrating their first Christmases. There was storytime, playtime, a craft, a giveaway and a raffle for prizes.

2. City Tree-Lighting Festival

We took the babe to two of our local tree-lighting festivals, and there were so many new things for him to look at—carnival-style rides and concessions, horse-drawn carriages and carolers, and the tree-lighting ceremony followed by fireworks. A perfect introduction to Christmas lights, music, decorations and more!

3. Christmas Pajama Party and Book Exchange

Baby and I had a fun time with close to 20 other mamas and babies from one of our mom meetup groups at a Christmas pajama party and book exchange. We enjoyed a potluck breakfast in our jammies, played with the other babies and did a white elephant baby book gift exchange.

4. Visit with Santa

No smiles for Santa, but no crying either—that’s a win in my book! I think it was partly our fault for taking him during nap time and partly him being unsure of why we were sitting him on the lap of the bearded stranger, but we got some sweet pictures anyway!

5. Christmas Eve Present

After bath time on Christmas Eve, we had a special first Christmas present for our babe to open. Inside were new Christmas pajamas to sleep in that night and a new Christmas book for us to read to him—a tradition we plan to continue each year! We also each got him personalized, inscribed gifts that I’m looking forward to displaying at Christmastime year after year.

i’ve always loved winnie the pooh, dating back to my own nursery decor. i bought this wrapping paper 5+ years ago for my future baby’s first christmas and have just had it stashed away until now. that’s not weird, is it? ;) wrapping his presents with it was one of my favorite things about this christmas!

So those were some of our highlights leading up to the big day! We had a wonderful first Christmas morning as a family of three opening presents and playing with our new toys. I hope all the other new mamas out there celebrating their first Christmases with their bundles of joy had as much fun as we did. May the new year be filled with even more joy with your little ones!

  1. What a wonderful description about Baby C’s first Christmas. You have had such good ideas. Excellent in fact. The wrapping paper story is one you can tell him for years, and, of course, you will be able to show him all the personalized things. ALL IN ALL………. I would say you guys had a wonderful and blessed Christmas.
